Common fixes

The things that trip people up most, and how to fix them.

Emails

Invoice or sign-up emails aren’t arriving

This is almost always your website’s email rather than PeriAdmin. Lots of web hosts send WordPress email in a way that lands in spam or goes missing altogether.

Install a free SMTP plugin, like WP Mail SMTP or FluentSMTP, and connect it to your email account. Then send yourself a test invoice to check it arrives.

Parents say my emails went to spam

Same fix as above. Sending through a proper email account, rather than straight from your web host, makes a big difference. It also helps to ask parents to add your email address to their contacts.

Sign-up forms

My sign-up form says “no active school found”

The form can’t find the school it’s linked to. Go to PeriAdmin, Schools and check two things: the school is set to active, and the slug in your sign-up form shortcode matches the school’s slug exactly.

I changed my form but the old version still shows

Your website is probably showing a saved (cached) copy of the page. Clear the cache in your caching plugin or your hosting dashboard, then reload the page.

Your data

A parent has asked me to delete their data

PeriAdmin runs on your own website, so you’re in charge of your pupils’ data, not us. Log the request under PeriAdmin, Data Requests and action it within a calendar month.

How do I back up my PeriAdmin data?

Go to Settings, Data backup / restore and download a backup. It’s worth doing at the start of every term.

How do I update PeriAdmin?

The same way as any other plugin. When there’s a new version, you’ll see it on your Plugins screen and under Dashboard, Updates. Click Update now.

Your Pro licence

I’ve bought Pro. How do I switch it on?

After you buy, you’ll get an email with your licence key and a link to download PeriAdmin Pro. In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, upload the Pro zip and activate it, then enter your licence key when it asks. Your schools, students and invoices carry straight over.

If the free version is still switched on afterwards, deactivate it on the Plugins page.

I can’t find my licence key

It’s in your purchase email, and under PeriAdmin, Account once Pro is active. Still can’t find it? Email support@periadmin.com from the address you bought with and we’ll send it again.

I’m moving PeriAdmin to a new website

Each Pro licence covers one website. On the old site, download a backup (Settings, Data backup / restore), then go to PeriAdmin, Account and deactivate the licence. Install Pro on the new site, activate it with the same key and restore your backup.

How do renewals work?

Pro renews automatically, every year or every month depending on the plan you chose. Your price stays the same for as long as your subscription stays active. You can see your renewal date under PeriAdmin, Account.

How do I cancel, and what happens to my data?

Email support@periadmin.com and we’ll cancel it for you. Pro keeps working until the end of the time you’ve paid for.

After that, PeriAdmin carries on as the Free version and nothing is deleted. One school keeps working as normal and the others become view-only until you renew.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within 30 days of your first purchase, no questions asked. Just email support@periadmin.com. Renewal payments aren’t refundable, so cancel before your renewal date if you don’t want to carry on.

Quick checks first

These fix a surprising number of problems:

  1. Update PeriAdmin to the latest version.
  2. Update WordPress too.
  3. Clear your website’s cache.
  4. Try again in a private browser window.

Tell us these and we’ll fix it faster

  • Your PeriAdmin version (it’s on your Plugins screen)
  • Whether you’re on Free or Pro
  • What you clicked, and what happened
  • Any error message, word for word

Please don’t send pupils’ names or personal details. If we need to see something, we’ll ask.

What support you get

Everyone gets help from a real person. Free users get it in the PeriAdmin forum on WordPress.org, and Pro customers get it by email.
